I didn't hesitate to choose Fido's Surgeon
When my dog, Laura started limping and her condition would not improve, I decided to take her to a Banfield Hospital. They referred me to Dr. Aron and Rainy. Having never gone through this process before, I made sure I received second opinions, but they all came to the same diagnosis; Laura had to undergo a cranial crucial element ligament repair/medial patella liza toon repair surgery. The process was intense, but after rehabilitation, Laura was back to being a happy dog. So when Laura needed another surgery for her other leg, I didn't hesitate to choose Fido's Surgeon. It's not easy finding a team that will take care of your pet's surgery AND do rehabilitation, so I decided to drive down from San Francisco and trust Laura to them once again. They truly care about the wellbeing of their patients even if it means re-educating the parents. Fido's Surgeon, thank you for your hard work and dedication. I truly appreciate your business.

Best shape of his life
Today is Giorgi's 10th birthday. His weight is staying right at 4 lbs. and he's walking 1-2 miles everyday. We think he is in the best shape of his life, and that's because of you and Dr. Aron.

Doing great
Winston needed ear surgery on both ears. I was told by Dr. Aaron that he was overweight and that he would have a hard time in surgery. I didn't believe it and sure enough he had trouble. I finally listened and took their suggestions and coaching. Today over a year later Winston is doing great. Before he lost 13 pounds he had lots of trouble breathing. Even in this current hot weather he is breathing through his nose. Thanks to the Aaron's Winston is in the best of health.

One year anniversary
TashiA year has passed since Tashi's had surgery on her ACL, oh my gosh. I found this photo of her enjoying her pink cast. She's doing great. Back to romping with Tara and patrolling the yard. I'm paranoid so I keep a close eye on her for limping, etc. I try to keep the romping down to a low roar. We've maintained her fit and trim physique.

Dedicated and caring
BlueFive and a half years ago our golden retriever named Blue suffered a spinal embolism. We immediately took him to the local emergency veterinary clinic. The vets were initially not optimistic about the quality of life Blue would have if we choose to rehabilitate him and encouraged us to put him to sleep. We chose the former option. The people at the emergency clinic put us in touch with Rainy Aron, and so began our combined efforts on Blue. Rainy was very patient with us. Rainy came to our house several times a week during those first 6 months of therapy. She taught my Mom how to catheterize Blue, she taught all of us simple assists like expressing his bladder and working his legs in bicycle motions. As Blue's condition improved Rainy moved on to ball and electroshock therapy. Blue never quite forgot she was the shock lady after that. Eventually Blue improved to the point were he could go swimming, with a life vest that Rainy found for us, and walk down the street on his own. We owe these years we got with Blue to Rainy. She was always there and willing to stop by or pick up the phone if we had any questions or concerns about what to do next, and trust me there was a lot of that. She is so dedicated and caring about the animals trusted in her care. She goes above and beyond in every way. We could never have done this without her. She is a valued and beloved member of Team Blue. Three weeks ago our Blue passed away due to kidney failure. He was 11 years old and a very happy, spoiled, and mobile dog. We are so grateful that Rainy came into our lives.

Mulder arrived home WALKING!
Mulder It was last January when we came home and heard our beloved Russian Blue, Fox Mulder, literally screaming from the back of the house. As we rushed to locate him, he met us in the hallway, he was completely dragging the back half of his body. We immediately determined that it was not a stroke, that it was something to do with his right leg - it had literally stopped working. We made an emergency trip to Market Street Vet Clinic and Dr. Raffy Dorian explained that it may be an injury to Mulder's ACL. We were immediately on the case, taking radiographs and scheduling an appointment with Dr. Aron. He was patient with us as the concept of lengthy "rehabilitation" sunk in. When Dr. Aron confirmed that Mulder needed surgery if we wished for him to walk again, our minds began racing. How would we afford this? How could we possibly put our lives on hold and nurse this cat back to health for months? How would this affect our other cats and how would we keep Mulder safe yet still a member of our family? Our next meeting was with Rainy, the anesthetist/rehab coach, and we soon realized that the price we were quoted was about 50% for the surgery and 50% for Rainy's 24/7 guidance and support in the five months that would follow Mulder's surgery. The surgery day came and we were so frightened and anxious because Mulder is our JOY. After the surgery, he went home with Rainy and Dr. Aron for about a week. We did as we were told and bought a large wire crate and decked it out with a fluffy bed and carpet, his own litter, food and water bowls. Mulder arrived home WALKING! Shaved and stitched, moving slowly but our boy was home! We slept by his side on the floor every night for five months. We live in a high-rise so we walked in the carpeted common hallways, at first five minutes, then ten, then fifteen until he was exercising for 1/2 hour, then a full hour, twice a day. I spoke with Rainy daily for a very long time. Met her once a week so she could monitor his progress. The Arons' definition of rehab is stringent and dedicated and we immediately adopted their belief system and just trusted that everything would be okay because we were witnessing a small miracle! It has been a year since the surgery and Mulder has reintegrating into everyday life with his family. He still walks each and every night before we go to bed. He is so strong now. He is an amazing cat and we look forward to many more years with him.  We touch base with Rainy routinely to let her know that he is happy and healthy. We are so thankful for Rainy and Dr. Aron.

5 years after TTA surgery
We are so grateful for your skill and expertise in Tibial Tuberosity Advancement surgery and the intensive rehabilitation care and dedication following the operation of our Golden Retriever, Ginger, who had torn her knee joint and ruptured her cruciate ligament at the young age of 5 years old. Limping badly and almost unable to walk, we were afraid she would never be normal again. We took some time investigating the options and luckily, landed in the caring and competent hands of Dr. Aron and Rainy. Seeing Ginger now, five years later, running, walking, playing, you would never know she had once injured her knee joint and had undergone surgery! We got our dog back! GOOD AS GOLD!

We felt comfortable and reassured that Optimus was in the best hands possible
Last spring, when we found out that Optimus had torn both of his cruciate ligaments and would require bilateral surgery to repair them, we were crushed. He wasn’t even 2-years-old, and we were terrified that we’d never see him running like this at the park again. Enter Dr. Aron and Rainy. From the minute we met Dr. Aron, we felt comfortable and reassured that Optimus was in the best hands possible. In his first meeting with us, he talked about how his goal was to get our pup back in action. He assured us that this wouldn’t be easy, but that with a lot of hard work and dedication to rehab, we’d get there.
The day of the first operation, Dr. Aron called us as soon as Optimus was out of surgery to give us an update. Everything had gone well, and he said that he and Rainy would like to keep Optimus for a night or two (in their home!!) to make sure he was recovering like they wanted. I can’t tell you what a relief this was to know that he would be under their professional care after the surgery. Two days later, we picked up Optimus and got to finally meet Rainy– who had been talking to us via phone and text for the previous 48 hours assuring us that our pup was doing well. I’m not being dramatic when I say she literally changed our lives. From the moment we met her, a calm and assuredness came over me. It’s not just that she’s so incredibly knowledgeable about the surgeries and the mechanics of the injuries and the recovery; on top of that she is also beyond warm, reassuring and helpful.
For the last year (through two operations, 9 months of rehab, and various bumps in the road), Rainy has been there for us at every step and every moment of the way. She helped us when we were frustrated, she gave Optimus the one-on-one attention he needed when we were determining when and how to progress through rehab, and she remained calm, caring and infinitely wise throughout the process.
There are really no words to convey how amazing our experience was with Dr. Aron and Rainy or how grateful we are to have our running, playing, goofy puppy back in action.
All we can say (and will continue to say) is THANK YOU!

MaxwellDr. Aron offerred me an alternative, end-to-end care, and he completely delivered
I took my male pug to Dr. Aron for amputation of a digit in his right paw due to the presence of a mast cell tumor. The surgery went well but the recovery was difficult due to Max's behavior - just a very active pug even in his older age, and no amount of medication or sensation of pain was going to slow him down. Nurse Aron noticed the trauma he was inflicting upon his first bandage change and offerred to board him until he sufficiently recovered. This actually took about 3 weeks, but once I got him back his condition improved to the point where he no longer needed bandages. Even though he has not yet fully healed, it it obvious the surgery itself is very clean. The missing digit will probably end up looking more like a genetic anomaly rather than an amputation. The main reason why I went this route is I've spent about $13k in vet bills over the past year for my other pug almost entirely shuffled between a half dozen specialists between the 2 VSHSD's over 30+ visits and probably 100+ hours of my time. It was frustrating to say the least, and we still have no idea what is wrong with her. With this issue I just didn't want to go that route. Dr. Aron offerred me an alternative, end-to-end care, and he and Nurse Aron completely delivered. My other pug may need back surgery soon and if that day comes this is where she will go.

She is doing fabulously
I just have to say that in the 2+ years after my dog Vandal had her 2 surgeries for both knees, she is doing fabulously thanks to both Dr. Aaron and Rainy's expertise in what they do so well, "heal". Since her surgeries, Vandal is back to her normal, playful self. Although, she still has a ways to go with her weight, (i'm working on it....I promise!), she is a happy, well adjusted rotte once again. Thank you, thank you, a thousand times thank you. You gave me my dog back!

Kelly ReyImmediately impressed by their expertise, caring and compassion
We first met Dr Aron and Rainy over 4 years ago when our then 11 year old Springer Spaniel tore her ACL. Two other experienced vets had said they could not do anything for her. Our primary Vet had said there is a new Vet in town and he is pretty talented you might want to meet with him. We met with Dr Aron & Rainy and were immediately impressed by their expertise, caring and compassion for us and our dog. It is now 2012 and Dr Aron and Rainy have performed 2 ACL surgeries, 1 Stem Cell Harvest, 2 growth removals, and 3 Stem cell injections. Our 15 1/2 year old Springer is doing great thanks to both of them. Each time they have gone above and beyond for us. The aftercare is amazing! Rainy is available 24-7-365. I have had to contact her many times and she is always ready with a solution or gets back to me quickly with advice from Dr. Aron. You do feel like you are there only patient. In fact, you feel like you are one of their family members. We just can't say enough good things about them. They are the BEST of the BEST and we are so fortunate to have them in San Diego.

Detailed written and verbal guidance
Lucy broke her right front radius and ulna badly. My primary care vet recommended a surgeon, and surgery was performed at my primary vet's site. Post-op care, other than fee generating x-rays, was nonexistent. Four months later Lucy was still limping. I hesitated asking for Dr. Aron's help after another surgeon had been less than completely successful. I should not have. The consultation was thorough and extremely professional. That was the first good sign. During surgery Dr. Aron used a bone grafting material and cultured the bacterium that was preventing healing. These steps accelerated healing and defined the correct antibiotic for the bacteria. The previous vet had unsuccessfully used a broad spectrum antibiotic. After surgery Rainy took over and kept Lucy over night. That contrasted with the need to carry a sixty five pound, sedated dog home after the initial operation. Also in contrast with the one page of instructions from the original surgery, Rainy offered detailed written and verbal guidance and wanted daily updates for a week. For six months, through cast changes and an amazing muscle building program, Rainy was always available and provided extensive helpful information. Lucy thrives. If I ever need surgery for myself, it is my profound hope that the care approaches that provided by Dr. Aron and Rainy. It is anticlimactic to note that their care was also more cost effective.

Wanted the best to treat my dogs condition
I have to say I was certainly upset to find out my, not even one year old, puppy had a luxated patella. But I treat my animals as if they are my children and certainly wanted the best to treat his condition. I was refered to Fidos Surgeon through Banfield pet Hospital here in San Diego, CA. I made an appointment with Dr. Aron so he could assess my pets condition and give me all the information I needed so I could make a decision on how to proceed. But prior to meeting Dr. Aron, I did do my homework. I was very satisfied with the results of my inquiry. The same day, after I met with Dr. Aron, his assistant called me with a break down of what it was going to cost and walked me through the whole procedure from beginning to end. She made the surgery appointment for the following week. They did the surgery and put him in a cast. They called me soon after to let me know he was done and recovering. Rainy ask me if it would be better for me to come and get him or should she take him home with her. I opted for the second option considering his age and the fact he was still hooked to an IV so they could administer fluids and pain meds without any problems. She keeps him for 2 weeks to start his physical therapy, which was a good idea because I would have been a softy and not made him do it so soon after surgery. They called me every day for the next 2 weeks with an update on him. I got him home after the 2 weeks and we started his therapy with constant updates to Rainy. She always made time to listen to me and made appointments whenver I felt I need to have him looked at. It was a long road with many trips to the vet but they always came to us which was a huge help. It took many many months of reducing the bandages and building up the leg so the wraps could come off but it was worth it. Today he is a happy bouncy 2 and half year old that could not have been doing this without their expert services. They are a great team and I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to anyone in need of a great surgical team! Thanks for all you have done!

RamosIt's like we have been given a new dog
Thank you Dr. Aron and Nurse Rainy Aron for the wonderful job you did for my dog, Ramos. Basically, he was having leakage from his anal gland almost every day...sometimes it would happen several days in a row...and we would have to clean him up and clean his bedding up also. It was so bad that I couldn't risk taking him in my vehicle for fear he would get that horrible smelling stuff all over my car. He basically was bought as a protection dog for me to travel with and to have with me when I was alone on my off-grid property in Arizona so he was not able to serve his purpose. I was thinking seriously about having him put to sleep because the thought of dealing with that every day for years was not appealing.
After his anal gland removal surgery he is a different dog. I think he had some infection going on inside of his gland because he had horrible bumps on his chin and all over his body, some of which would burst open and ooze reddish liquid. Now those bumps are gone too along with the anal gland leakage. It's like we have been given a new dog and he has a lot more energy now too. I don't think he was feeling too well before he had the surgery. Also, the surgery is tricky and sometimes can render a dog incontinent but the doctor is so skilled at what he does that my dog has had no problems in that area.
Thank you again Dr. Aron and Nurse Aron for all the good you have done for my family.

SaoirseIncredible Experience
I just wanted to share how incredible my experience with Dr. Aron and Rainy was. My 6 year old chihuahua had luxtated patelas in both legs she couldnt even walk around the block and my heart was breaking, I thought for sure her life would be shortended because of this, and she would  have to live out her remaining time  on pain medication. Then I met Dr. Aron and Rainy, and they assured me that they could fix Coco's knees. I trusted them right away and really felt at ease with them. They were personable and extremely knowledgeable, so we went a head with the first surgery. Needless to say I was a complete basket case the first week following the surgery, and had to call Rainy many many times, it got to the point I had her phone number memorised, and every time I called she was patient and compassionate with both me and Coco. She walked me through everthing we needed to do to get Coco walking and we talked on the phone almost daily. She came to change her bandages and to check her progress several times a week. Once Coco was ready and that first leg was strong enough, Dr Aron did the second knee, and once again we started out with tiny walks to potty to 5 minutes to 10 etc. to build up strength. Rainy even gave us the cutest pink ladder for exercises, to  help build up her strength, and once again they were always there to check progress. And I can't tell you how greatful I am to Dr Aron and Rainy. When I talked to Rainy the other day I had to tell her that I took Coco to the beach for the first time since her surgery, and I cried happy tears when I put my little 6 1/2 pound chihuahua in the sand and she took off like a bullet chasing those seagulls, she had the time of her life. I dont think I have ever seen my dog that happy, we can now go on long walks and she never seems to tire out, which has also helped me loose quite a few pounds as well. I adore what Dr. Aron and Rainy have done for Coco and me, because of them my dog will have a long happy active life and I can't thank them enough! They are commited and caring and if I had to do it all over again, with Dr. Aron's  surgery skills and Rainys rehab skills I wouldnt think twice.

SaoirseTwo of the most qualified and generous people I have ever met
Dr. Dennis Aron, our brilliant surgeon, and Lorraine Aron, Fido’s super-caring Coach, are two of the most qualified and generous people I have ever met. We soon discovered that our puppy Saoirse (Pronounced Shear-sheh, meaning Freedom in Irish) had a congenital defect in her leg which many sensible people would have had amputated. We went to Dr. Aron for a second opinion, and found out he believed in miracles. So do we, because finding such a couple proves that the impossible is possible, it just takes a little longer. Lots longer. The operation was a success, but the subsequent rehab would be the proof of success. We had one crisis after another in our household which made our doing the rehab impossible for several months, so Saoirse was kindly housed and cared for by the Aron’s. This was the best decision we and they could have made for Saoirse. When we first came to them, Saoirse had a withered hind leg which she ignored when she ran, which would gradually become painfully arthritic and necessitate amputation, or an incredibly skilled operation and aftercare. The latter is what has happened. Our sweet beloved dog has come back and won us all over. She walks on her hind leg along with the other one, and performs complex maneuvers every day by stepping through a ladder which is gradually raised. She has regained a life of quality. She still needs some time to have a leg that is as muscular as the other one, but she’s improving every day, and Rainy is there with us every step of the way. The feeling that we all have been able to rescue our beloved dog, who had either a painful life in front of her, or one without a leg, or simply one that would have entailed her being put down, which was one suggestion we were given, is amazing now. These two should be so happy that they have given not only another dog a wonderful life, but also enhanced the lives of her human family beyond measure. We thank you two beautiful people from the bottom of our hearts! You have earned our unqualified admiration and eternal gratitude.

PuppyMade us feel like Puppy was their only patient!
“Puppy the 3rd”, our Brittany, had two surgeries in about a two-week period, (September 1st and September 15th, 2007). The first was for a chronic abscess, and the second for oral cancer. Prior to both surgeries, Dr. Aron explained the procedures and answered any questions we had. The surgery for oral cancer was a big concern to us. We felt Dr. Aron was very honest in his assessments. The surgery was quite extensive and we were very concerned that Puppy might not make it. We were given several status reports following the surgeries prior to his release. Before returning home with Puppy, his follow-up care was fully explained, as well as written down for us to refer to after we got home. Rainy gave us her cell phone number to call anytime we had a concern about anything. They followed up with phone calls after we returned home. We never felt rushed and they made us feel like Puppy was their only patient!
Dr. Aron and Rainy spent more time with us than our primary care physicians spend with us. They went far beyond what we would have ever expected of them; including taking him home with them following his cancer surgery. They are both very sincere, dedicated, and caring professionals. We just can’t thank them enough for ALL that they’ve done. We were so fortunate to have Puppy in their care.
April 14, 2010, was Puppy’s 14th birthday and he’s been doing just great since his surgeries two-and-a-half years ago! He loves to go for walks, and we take him camping with us every month. His hearing isn’t what it used to be, but he responds very well to hand signals and he still has the energy and spunk of a much younger dog. He recently had his annual checkup and was referred to as “the miracle dog”. Thank you soooo much Dr. Aron and Rainy for all that you did for Puppy. He’s now a “retired” therapy dog and is living a good life!

bellaAn Extraordinary Pair of Professionals
Our 1-1/2 year old springer spaniel, Bella, arrived at VSS with a serious compound fracture that was one week old. Dr. Aron was able to save Bella's leg after a lengthy and complex surgery. I can't imagine finding another vet surgeon with the technical abilities to put Bella's leg back together. But restructuring Bella's leg was just the beginning of a long process that next involved Dr. Aron's wife, Rainy. Because we live in Seattle and were enroute to a trip in Antarctica, Rainy took Bella into her and Dr. Aron's home and rehabilitated her for over 2 months. We now have Bella with us in Seattle, and are amazed at her recovery. Without the skill and experience of the Aron's, I'm sure that Bella would be without a fourth leg. The Aron's went above and beyond the call of duty to bring Bella into their home and make her part of their family. They show a great commitment and dedication to the welfare of animals, and we would highly recommend them to anyone seeking surgery or rehab for their pet.

The best treatment ever!!!!!!!!
Our 2.5 Year old 5.4# Dachshund Jennie Joe ruptured a disk and was unable to use her hind quarters. Dr. Aron and Rainy stayed late while we drove 450 miles to see them. The staff phoned to get updates and to prepare for our arrival. When we arrived we were greeted with concern and compassion. Dr. Aron explained in detail what Jennie Joe’s injuries were and what pre-op tests would have to be performed. He also let us know that she may never walk again. Rainy gave us a detailed estimate for treatment and she was taken in very caring hands to have her MRI. I think Dr. Aron and Rainy were surprised that the money did not matter, what mattered was a member of our family needed help, that was the top concern for us. The treatment total was less than the estimate, the hotel bill was more. We were kept informed all weekend as to Jennie Joe’s progress. I was taught how to care for her and after the long ride home Rainy and Dr. Aron have kept in touch with her pt and progress. She is starting to regain some movement and we owe that to Dr. Aron and Rainy’s commitment to all their patients.

No one expected Shadow to run again

When our beloved dog, Shadow, was severely injured in an accident, she required spine and hip surgery.  She also had casts on both hind legs to stabilize a knee injury.  This was very traumatic and scary, but we had the great good fortune to have Rainy Aron as our critical care nurse and then our rehab coach.  Rainy nursed Shadow through the surgeries and designed a treatment plan to get her to walk again.

It took many months of hard work and challenges, but Rainy helped us every step of the way encouraging us and providing support.  Even though she had many other patients, she always made time for us and made us feel as if Shadow was her most important patient.  Rainy has a gift for working with both people and animals to get them to believe in themselves and accomplish more than they think they can.  This quality, combined with her skills, knowledge and experience, make her the perfect choice as coach for any dog and its family.
We can’t emphasize enough how important she was to Shadow’s recovery.  No one expected Shadow to run again, but nine months after her accident she prances everywhere she goes.
Thank you, Rainy!  We couldn’t have done it without you.

The Real Help
puppyThe surgery my dog had, went well and I am grateful to the surgeon. But the real help was from the physical therapy she got. Her therapist (Rainy) was awesome. The therapy was a lot of time and hard work on both Daisy's and my part. But I am glad I did it. Because today I have a puppy that can run like she loves to.
Thank You Rainy for everything.

Exceptional Care
springerKahlua, my 10 year old Springer Spaniel, pulled her knee, VSS was recommended by my vet. Dr. Aron explained everything fully. He was very direct and to the point explaining in great detail what to expect over the next four-six months. From the moment he met with us his total focus was Kahlua, her well-being and her comfort. She needed to lose weight before surgery and Rainy worked with me on a weekly basis to get the weight off of Kahlua. She called frequently to see if I had questions -- The day of surgery Dr. Aron called me immediately after surgery and explained thoroughly how it went. When Kahlua was released to me the next day -- I was given phone numbers for a vet tech at the hospital, and also I already had Rainy and Dr. Aron's personal numbers. At 4:00 a.m. I needed to call. I never went to voice mail -- everyone I called answered and walked me through the emergency. Rainy was with Kahlua through rehab. Kahlua liked Rainy and if she even heard Dr. Aron's voice through closed doors -- she was excited and would try to find him. Kahlua is running again six months after surgery. The rehab was long and time consuming but the support and care was exceptional. And I know they will always be a phone call away. The costs was minimal compared to the care and attention Kahlua and I got.
